Gloria Morgan died unexpectedly on October 16, 2025, at University Hospital of Cleveland. She was born Gloria A. Brown in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 3, 1945.
Gloria is preceded in death by Alberta Brown (Mother), Wilbert Brown Sr., (Stepfather), James White, (biological father); Siblings: Caleb White, Joshua White, Cornelius Brown, Phoebe Murphy, Zachariah Brown, Jeremiah Loury, and Wilbert Brown Jr.
Gloria received her formal education in the Cleveland Public school system, attended Cleveland State University, and later obtained her Cosmetology license. Gloria worked at various jobs during her lifetime to include instructing at the cosmetology school she attended. However, she missed her true calling because she could have been a stand-up comedian. Yes, our Gloria loved to make people laugh. She had a quick sardonic wit and was the best at telling stories about her life, friends, and family. Of course, the stories were a bit embellished, and sometimes caused trouble, but often left you in fits of laughter, which was the intended goal.
Gloria was well known in the Kingston Towers building where she lived for 20 years. She participated in building activities especially the late-night card games with the group called "The Mommas."  Gloria could often be seen rolling around her community in that scooter at inappropriate times of the night. When chastised about the possible danger, she would always say, "everybody knows me, ain't nobody gonna bother me"! She was right. Gloria loved music, especially Christmas music, and could sing a little bit. Gloria particularly loved shopping and going out to eat with her aide Eartha. Many of us believed her to be a low-key hoarder. Albeit a "neat" hoarder as her sister Naomi said.
Gloria was married briefly to Ben Morgan, but no children were produced from that union. After the death of her mother, Gloria became the primary caregiver for her brother Wilbert. So, in essence, he was her child. The nieces and nephews were also like her children. Gloria was the favorite auntie to many of them, because she kept their secrets and would sometimes let you do things your parents wouldn't allow.
Gloria leaves to mourn her beloved partner of 28 years, Dwayne Johns of Cleveland Ohio, Brother Paul White of Chesapeake VA, Sister Magdalene Woorten of Rockhill SC, Sister Naomi Hasan Shabazz of Cleveland OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
